Domingo Mendes, the 22-year-old Belmont man wanted for shooting Waltham’s Tyler Zanco to death, was arrested on gun charges in Burlington last July and on an assault and battery charge in Waltham earlier that month.

Mendes allegedly shot and killed Zanco, a Waltham High senior, shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday, March 20, in the Gardencrest Apartments parking lot on Middlesex Circle in Waltham. Zanco, 17, was fighting with 21-year-old Taylor Poulin, of Newton, who is also wanted by police, when Mendes shot him, according to the police affidavit.

In late July 2013, a Massachusetts State Police trooper pulled over a vehicle with Mendes in it on Route 3 in Burlington and allegedly found a loaded .45 caliber pistol, as well as a black mask, belonging to Mendes. At that time, Mendes was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number and unlawful possession of ammunition.

Earlier that month, Waltham police charged Mendes with assault and battery after an alleged altercation with his roommate.

Mendes’ address was listed as 40 Wilbur St. in Waltham last July – it is now listed as 10 Olmsted Drive in Belmont.

Yeah... Where is that spineless little puke governor of ours at a time like this? If the victim were black, you can be sure that he'd drop a comment somewhere. For that matter, I haven't heard any condolences for the family out of our mayor-for-life, or the council of losers, either.

Why is it we always seem to see the person being charged having already been so recently arrested but still on the street? This guy was arrested for carrying an unlicensed firearm with a defaced serial number and assault and battery but he's out and about and kills someone. Will that be enough to get him kept locked up or do we have to give him time for another killing? Are the courts even looking at these people's past records?

That is the million dollar question. Why? Why, after being caught with an illegal weapon, is he allowed to get another weapon and use it? Remember this case next time some anti-gun nut tells you your gun should only hold seven rounds....or assault rifles are not needed...tell them to do their jobs....chase criminals....and leave us alone.

That case you assholes are talking about, He beat the case because of a racist cop and the judge threw it out, now you have a case of some kids setting up people to get robbed and one gets killed, How come no charges are being flied against the kid that gave the victim the Stun gun or brass knuckles or making the phone calls to set up the drug deals?
