Waltham Man Sentenced To Six Years In Jail For Stealing Thousands From Women Online

Albert Lovering will also serve 10 years on probation.

A Waltham man has been sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty to charges of stealing more than $200,000 from women he met on online dating Web sites.

Albert Lovering, 54, of Waltham, pleaded guilty to 23 counts of larceny today, according to the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office. Judge Elizabeth Fahey also found him guilty on one count of being a common and notorious thief.

Lovering will be on probation after serving out his sentence at the Billerica House of Corrections and must pay $78,000 in restitution to his victims. He must also obtain and keep a job and avoid contact with his victims.

Last summer, Lovering was charged with stealing money from women he met on online dating Web sites.

“This defendant has now admitted to deceiving four victims into thinking he was romantically attached to them and in need of financial assistance, only to have taken advantage of their generosity and in turn he stole over two hundred thousand dollars from them,” District Attorney Gerry Leone said in a statement.  “With this admission of guilt the defendant will now be held accountable for the years he deceived and stole from these victims.  I commend the work of the investigators on this case who worked to ensure that these victims received justice.”
