Waltham Man Busted For House Break-Ins

The Waltham man was arrested after offering shoveling services to residents.

A Waltham man is facing several charges in connection with recent home break-ins after police arrested him on Feb. 14.

Michael LaPointe, 35, of 17 Stratton Terrace, is facing the following charges: one count of larceny under $250, five counts of larceny over $250, two counts of larceny under $250 by false pretenses and three counts of breaking and entering (daytime felony). He is also facing warrant charges for receiving stolen property over $250 and breaking and entering (daytime felony).

Police arrested LaPointe on Feb. 11 after he allegedly broke into a house on Piety Corner Road, according to Waltham Police Sgt. Tim King. At around 10 a.m., LaPointe knocked on a nearby home to offer the owner shoveling services. However, LaPointe did not have a shovel with him. The homeowner declined, but watched LaPointe walk down the street toward another home. LaPointe then ducked behind the home. The homeowner heard a security alarm and called police. Officers quickly located LaPointe and arrested him. Officers found a broken window on the home.

Upon further investigation, Waltham Police linked LaPointe to a series of home break-ins, King said. Officers obtained a warrant and on Feb. 14, arrested LaPointe at 12 Harvard St., King said. King said he could not specify which homes LaPointe allegedly burglarized.

Lock him up. A guy who will come right up to your door or break in to a house in broad daylight is a predator and dangerous.

According to your definition, your postal carrier is a predator! Just sayin'... Usually terms such as 'predator' refer to those who cause physical, sexual or psychological harm to people. It's not really accurate to use it in reference to property crimes. Yep, theft sucks. There are other crimes which suck more.

According to the Mirriam Webster Dictionary, a predator is " one that preys, destroys, or devours". One to nothing and Boy is in the lead.
