WATERTOWN -- Police arrested a Waltham man on June 26 after the woman he was with was spotted stealing an item from a car at the Arsenal Mall.

On June 26 at 1:47 p.m., a man and woman were seen approaching customers coming out of Home Depot and asking for money, said Watertown Police Sgt. Thomas Grady. One of the suspects was later identified and Jonathan Snyder, 31, of 15 Wyola Prospect in Waltham. The other was identified as Jodi L. Papadonis, 29, of Sciuate.

“Papodonis entered a motor vehicle left unattended in the parking lot, and took a Burberry umbrella worth $325,” Grady said.

Police then confronted the pair and placed them under arrest. Officers discovered Papadonis also had drugs on her and items taken from Marshalls and other stores in the mall, Grady said.

A background check of Snyder, who had drugs as well, revealed that he had four outstanding warrants. Snyder was arrested on charges of receiving stolen property, conspiracy to commit a crime, possession of a Class E drug, and the four warrant charges: one from Boston District Court for assault and battery, one from East Boston District Court for shoplifting, one from South Boston District Court for drug possession and another from Roxbury District Court for resisting arrest, Grady said.
