Waltham Man Arrested After Suspicious Behavior On Newton/Waltham Line

Man had outstanding warrants.

NEWTON -- A Waltham man was arrested Friday, March 9 after he was seen acting suspiciously near Derby Street and Parmenter Road.

According to police reports, the suspicious person was walking up and down the street with a brown bag, placing the bag down and picking it back up again. After police discovered there was a warrant out for this person's arrest, several units responded to the area including a K-9 unit.

Police found the suspicious man, later identified as William Childs, behind a residence on Rangley Road.

Childs, 28, of 93 Hammond St. Unit B, was arrested on three active warrants out of Waltham District Court. The warrants were issued for charges of breaking and entering in the daytime for a felony, larceny of drugs and failure to appear, police said.
