Waltham High School Student Arrested

The student's name was not released.

A 16-year-old Waltham High School student was arrested Wednesday on armed robbery charges, according to Waltham Police.

The student, who lives in Waltham, is facing charges for armed robbery and assault and battery stemming from an Oct. 13 incident, according to Waltham Police Sgt. Tim King. Police declined to release the student's name citing privacy restrictions for juveniles.

On Oct. 13, two people outside of the Home Suites Inn on Totten Pond Road flagged down an officer to report they had just been robbed, King said. The victims, who were not hotel patrons, told police two men had emerged from the nearby woods. One of them said he had a gun, but never displayed a weapon, King said. The two men stole $45 from the victims and fled.

The only injury occurred when one of the suspects punched one of the victims in the face, King said. The victim declined medical treatment.

After an investigation, police obtained a warrant for the student and arrested him at the high school at 11:10 a.m. on Wednesday, King said.

Police have not made any other arrests in the case.
