Waltham Fire Douses Recycling Truck Fire This Morning

Driver of truck escaped safely.

Waltham firefighters doused a recycling truck fire this morning, according to a Waltham Fire Department press release.

The incident started at around 8 a.m. when firefighters received a report of a recycling truck on fire at 78 Fourth Ave, but by the time firefighters arrived, the truck had left the scene and had put out the flames, according to the release. A few minutes later, firefighters responded to 680 Lexington St. for the same truck with smoke inside and a small fire inside its compactor. Crews quickly brought the blaze under control. 

The driver of the truck escaped unharmed.
