Waltham Business Owner Recounts Encounter with Alleged Sheriff Shooter

Raymond Wallace served several years in prison for attempting to rob Pizzi Farm in Waltham.

The picture of a pool of blood on his shop floor will never let Rick Pizzi forget about his 2001 encounter with a violent felon named Raymond Wallace.

Wallace’s career of crime allegedly continued on Wednesday. Boston Police have charged Raymond Wallace with shooting a Middlesex County Deputy Sheriff at a Boston medical center on Wednesday, according to Boston Police.

Wallace, 36, of North Billerica, faces charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon (gun), assault and battery on a public employee and escape, according to Boston Police. While in the custody of two deputy sheriffs, Wallace allegedly stole a deputy sheriff’s gun and shot the deputy. In response, a separate deputy sheriff shot Wallace.

Wallace remains hospitalized. The deputy sheriff suffered non-fatal injures.

A day after the shooting, Pizzi recounted how Wallace repeatedly robbed his store until one night when a robbery turned bloody. See the video of shop owner Rick Pizzi described the Waltham incident in the box below.

According to the Boston Herald, Wallace tried to grab one of the officer's guns during the Waltham incident. Wallace was dressed in a black ninja outfit and had two guns strapped to him, according to the Herald. 

In 2009, Wallace was released from prison on parole. However, he was arrested in 2011 for allegedly robbing a Pet Smart store in Salem, according to WBZ-TV.
