Waltham Brothers Arrested After Assaulting Police

Four people are facing drug charges after a Friday incident in Waltham.

Two brothers are facing serious charges for allegedly attacking four Waltham Police officers after they were found with marijuana and cocaine.

Dario Merisma, 30, of 17 Summer Ave. is facing four counts of assault and battery on a police officer, one count of possession with intent to distribute a class D drug and one count of possession of a class B drug.

Merisma's brother, Stephen, 30, of the same address faces: one count of assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, possession of a class B drug and possession with intent to distribute a class D drug.

On Dec. 20 at around 6:15 p.m., police responded to a report of drug activity at 135 Alder St., and immediately smelled marijuana, according to Waltham Police Sgt. Joseph Guigno. Officers quickly noticed Christopher McDonald, 35, of 135 Alder St., holding a marijuana cigarette.

Police also noticed a large bag of what they believe was marijuana on the floor of the apartment and another bag of they think is cocaine, Guigno said. As officers began searching Dario Merisma, Dario became combative and began fighting the officers, Guigno said. Four Officers had to use pepper spray and other maneuvers to subdue Dario, Guigno said. As officers were restraining Dario, Stephen Merisma attacked the officers and struck one in the face, Guigno said. Officers quickly subdued Stephen Merisma.

McDonald, and Andrew Lutaaya, 30, of 88 Charles St., are facing the following charges: possession with intent to distribute a class D substance and possession of a class B substance.
