Update on School Street Fire in Waltham

The first occurred at 114 School St.

The Waltham Fire Department on Monday confirmed details of the Saturday fire at 114 School St.

Firefighters are examining whether an electrical lamp had an issue and possibly started the blaze in the 2.5 story wood frame home, according to Fire Lt. Scott Perry.

Firefighters responded to the 911 calls at 1:16 p.m. on Saturday and found flames coming from the second story bedroom, Perry said. Firefighters contained the flames to the room and doused them. The room's contents were heavily damaged by smoke, flames and water. Some items on the first floor were also damaged, according to Perry.

The home did not have working smoke detectors, according to Perry.
