Update on Grove Road Fire in Waltham

The incident began at 6:03 p.m.

Nobody was injured during a Nov. 22 fire at a single-family home on Grove Road, according to the Waltham Fire Department.

The incident began at around 6:03 p.m. on Friday when firefighters responded to a report of a building fire at 40 Grove Rd. When firefighters arrived, smoke was showing, but the home's occupants had safely evacuated.

Firefighters contained the fire to the basement kitchen area near a stove, according to Waltham Fire Lt. Scott Perry.

"It appears something was left on or started up in there," Perry said.

The basement area sustained fire, smoke and water damage, Perry said.
