Waltham Police have arrested three people in connection with the recent vandalism at Mount Feake Cemetery.

Derrick Matyuf, 28, of 120 Robbins St. and Shaleem Petty, 18, of 10 Winthrop St., Apt. A, both face the following charges: larceny over $250, destruction of property over $250, larceny of a motor vehicle and breaking and entering into a building or car.

A third person, a juvenile from Waltham, was also arrested in connection with the incident.

Each person also faces a count of injuring or defacing tombs, according to Waltham Police Sgt. Tim King.

Police began investigating the trio after they allegedly broke into a warehouse at 71 Felton St., damaged its contents and stole a truck sometime prior to Jan. 12, according to King. The trio took the truck to Mount Feake Cemetery where they allegedly vandalized the property causing headstone and grass damage, King said.

The cemetery damage was discovered on Jan. 13.

Through an investigation, police identified the trio and arrested in the Lowell Street area on Jan. 16., King said.

I can't believe that one is 18 and one is 28 years old!!! Then again, there's no excuse for the the juvenile either. It's blantant disrespect! I hope to God that community service is part of their punishment.

Ryan, is this photo of the actual stones damaged? If so, these stones - Levi and Merit Barnard are in Section H, Oldham Avenue.

Hi PupDawg, I don't know for sure if it is. Notice that the caption says possibly broken by vandals.
