Those Traffic Cameras Are Not For Tickets

The city is taking steps to improve Waltham's traffic situation.

Waltham will soon temporarily install traffic cameras, but not to issue tickets to motorists.

The city, as part of efforts to improve the city's traffic situation, plans to temporarily install cameras at 91 intersections to gather traffic pattern data, according to the mayor's office.

The cameras will be installed in the days before Nov. 6. The data will be gathered on Nov. 6 and the cameras will be removed days later. The cameras will be counting the number of turns at intersections.

Mayor Jeannette McCarthy said the cameras WILL NOT be used to issue tickets to drivers.
