Suspect in Murder of Bentley Grad Held Without Bail, Attempted Suicide

Edwin Alemany appeared in West Roxbury District Court Thursday.

The man accused of murdering former Bentley student Amy Lord will be held without bail in a hearing held after he attempted suicide.

Edwin Alemany pleaded not guilty in West Roxbury District Court Thursday morning. Judge Kathleen E. Coffey stopped the hearing so a psychologist could interview Alemany, according to a report on Masslive.com.

He attempted suicide by clawing at his arteries while in the Nashua Street Jail on Wednesday night, according to the report.

On Wednesday appeared in South Boston District Court facing charges of armed assault with intent to murder, kidnapping and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, according to a report on Boston.com. Alemany pleaded not guilty.

Alemany allegedly committed one of the attacks on July 23, the same day Lord was killed but the other attack occurred before the one on Lord. The second one took place on July 24. In the second attack, Alemany is accused of stabbing the woman multiple times before he ended the attack when neighbors spotted him.
