State Police Investigating Two For Link To Waltham/Arlington Bank Robberies

State Police have arrested two people they believe could be linked to both bank robberies.

The Massachusetts State Police and Federal Bureau of Investigation are investigating two individuals for their possible connection to two bank robberies on Jan. 8, including one in Waltham, according to State Police.

State Police arrested two men on Jan. 8 after a short vehicle pursuit in Boston and later discovered evidence that could link them to the robberies of a Sovereign Bank in Waltham and East Cambridge Bank in Arlington, according to State Police.

State Police are investigating Andrea Koutis, 30, of Arlington and Erik Stout, 35, of Somerville. State Police arrested the pair after a brief car chase on Soldier's Field Road in Boston.

At around 4:54 p.m., Trooper Mark England noticed a 1998 Nissan Maxima that had been reported stolen from Watertown, according to State Police. England attempted to stop the car immediately, but the car fled. England eventually stopped the car at the intersection of Western Avenue and Teleford Street and arrested the pair.

A search of the car discovered $7,000 in cash and police noticed the suspects matched descriptions of suspects involved in both bank robberies, according to State Police. As a result, State Police contacted the FBI bank robbery task force, of which the State Police are a member.

Koutis, who was driving the car, is facing charges for failure to stop, operating a motor vehicle and a marked lanes violation. Stout, a passenger in the car, is facing charges for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Both men are being held without bail at the State Police Barracks in Brighton.
