Police Investigating Fire at Waltham High School

This is the second fire in two weeks at Waltham High School.

Waltham Police and firefighters are investigating the second trash barrel fire in two weeks at Waltham High School.

At around 1:45 p.m. on Nov. 15, a small trash barrel fire broke out in the first floor boys room of the school, according to Waltham Fire Lt. Scott Perry. The school was evacuated and housemaster Stephen Duffy doused the flames with an extinguisher, according to Waltham Fire Lt. Cliff Richardson.

Nobody was injured, according to Perry.

Perry said the Nov. 15 fire was similar to the Nov. 6 trash barrel fire at school, but he could not say whether they were directly related to each other.

"It does not appear as if it is accidental," Perry said of the Nov. 15 fire.

After the Nov. 6 fire, Waltham Public Schools Superintendent Susan Nicholson said the police had two suspects in that incident.
