Newton Woman Allegedly Assaulted Man In Wheelchair In Waltham

Waltham Police have charged the woman with assaulting an elderly man she knows.

A Newton woman was arrested recently after she allegedly punched an elderly man in a wheelchair at his Waltham home, according to Waltham Police.

Marlene McGuire, 39, of 32 Oakland St., Newton, is facing two counts of assault and battery on a person over 60 or disabled in connection with a Jan. 23 incident at the Winchester Crane public housing building at 101 Prospect St.

After responding to a report of two women fighting at the building, police determined McGuire had been arguing with the man, who uses a wheelchair. McGuire allegedly shoved the man and nearly tipped him over in his wheelchair, according to Waltham Police Sgt. Tim King. A home health aide working for the alleged victim told McGuire to stop arguing, but McGuire then allegedly punched the victim in the mouth, King said. McGuire and the man know each other, King said.
