New Trial Date in Deadly Waltham Pedestrian Incident

Blanca Contreras faces motor vehicle homicide charges.

The trial of a Waltham woman charged in the death of a Waltham man has a new date.

Blanca Contreras, a native of Guatemala in the United States illegally, faces motor vehicle homicide charges in the death of Scott Coxall, 39, of Waltham.

The trial is now set to begin on Oct. 24 at Waltham District Court, according to the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office. Prosecutors believe Contreras was driving the car that struck and killed Coxall as he was crossing the street in November 2011.

The trial has been scheduled to start in June, but was delayed.

Prosecutors previously charged Contreras’s boyfriend, William Vasquez, with lying to police when he claimed he was driving the car. Those charges were later dropped, but the DA’s office has said they would refile them.
