Mayor Requests Funds For Waltham Police Chief Investigation Again

Waltham Police Chief Thomas LaCroix is facing serious charges for allegedly attacking his wife and her friend.

Mayor Jeannette McCarthy has again requested funding for an internal investigation of Waltham Police Chief Thomas LaCroix, who is accused of assaulting his wife and her friend.

McCarthy, in a Feb. 20 letter to the City Council, requested $10,000 from the city’s personnel unemployment account that would be used to hire a retired state police officer to investigate whether LaCroix violated the police department’s internal rules. The investigation could lead to disciplinary action.

The money request is on the agenda for the Monday, Feb. 25 City Council meeting during which it will likely be referred to a subcommittee for future discussion.

LaCroix is facing serious assault charges for allegedly attacking his wife and her friend at their Maynard home in June 2012. His trial is scheduled to start on March 27.

LaCroix is currently on paid leave from the Waltham Police Department and on house arrest.

If approved, the investigator would interview Maynard and Framingham Police officers involved in the case and attend LaCroix’s trial, according to McCarthy's letter. McCarthy did not specify how Framingham Police were involved in the case. However, Maynard Police responded to the June 2012 incident at LaCroix’s home.

The timing of the latest request is designed to coincide with LaCroix’s trial, according to McCarthy’s letter.

“The timing of this request is designed so that the city won’t be delayed in proceeding administratively upon the disposition of the criminal matter. Otherwise, there will be a delay in ending paid administrative leave,” McCarthy wrote.

The City Council’s Finance Committee in February rejected a similar request for $20,000 after councilors said they did not want to waste taxpayer money on information that could be gleaned during LaCroix’s upcoming trial.

The newest request, however, is from the city’s personnel unemployment account instead of the city’s free cash account.

McCarthy has said an outside investigator is required because having the police department investigate LaCroix could pose a conflict of interest. Waltham Police Department regulations require an investigation be conducted to determine whether LaCroix violated department rules, according to McCarthy.

SERIOUSLY? That's it! Time to launch an internal investigation against the mayor. Or maybe she can explain the truth that she is using Taxpayer money from multiple depts to buy the Fernald School property for $14.2 Million instead of purchasing town equipment and fixing city buildings.

That's the Mayor for you. The council has already told her no and wait until the trial is over but here she is trying again.

We need the Fernald property. It's where we are going to put all the snow...

Lol. Good one. No we will just use the land behind the Lawrence School again.

The following comment is from the Mayor's office: A constituent contacted me regarding something on Patch about buying Fernald for about $14.2M and using Fernald as a snow farm. I am advising the constituent that neither are true.

She had a 21 million dollar stash that was found that she was hiding crew because she wanted to use it for the Fernald. The police and fire departments hired an independent auditor to look at the city books and he found it, yet the mayor was crying poor. The city unions did this because they have not had a raise in 3 years and she fails to negotiate in good faith, they went to arbitration and now it will cost the city millions because if her lack of business skills. People need to be aware of this.. Trust me. She will try and run for mayor again... Only reason she said she wasn't running was to take the heat off her from the snow. I hope the DPW director doesn't bow down during the council meeting and take it,. Stand up tell the council she won't fund your budget and see where it goes...

I hope Chaison rips her one. If the Taxpayers in this city knew what me and you knew Fred they would be outside city hall with pitch forks.

She should use some of her inflated salary to pay for it.

Hopefully the voters will remember that come election time and not be swayed when eating the 'retarded pie'.
