Martel’s Parents Break Silence to Boston Globe

Jennifer Martel's mother told the Globe her daughter was planning to escape from Jared Remy just days before he allegedly killed her.

Jennifer Martel’s parents recently broke their silence following the death of their daughter in an interview with the Boston Globe.

Jennifer Martel, 27, was allegedly stabbed to death by her boyfriend, 35-year-old Jared Remy, the son of Boston Red Sox broadcaster Jerry Remy, last Aug. 14 in their Waltham townhouse.

Martel’s mother, Patty, told the Globe her daughter said she was “planning to escape” from Remy just two days before the killing. Patty also described Remy as a man who considered the Martel family “trailer trash,” order her and her daughter to take naps and decided when it was time for them to eat.
