Man in Critical Condition After Pedestrian Crash in Waltham

Waltham Police are investigating a serious pedestrian crash that occurred at 1:04 a.m. on Sunday.

UPDATED, 10:45 a.m. with information from the Waltham Police Department:

Waltham Police have issued additional details on the crash. At around 1:04 a.m., police responded to a report of a car striking a pedestrian at the intersection of Main and Church streets. Crews arrived and found a 70-year-old man had been struck by a car as he was crossing Main Street in a southern direction.

Police identified the driver as a 25-year-old Waltham man. 

The victim was transported by a MedFlight helicopter to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He remains in critical but stable condition with head, arm and shoulder injuries.

Police said the operator of the car did not appear to be impaired. The incident remains under investigation.

A man was taken to hospital by helicopter early Sunday morning after being struck by a car on Main Street in Waltham.

According to scanner reports, a 65-year-old man was hit at Main and Church streets around 1 a.m. and was unconscious and suffered head injuries.

A Medflight helicopter landed at Leary Field and took the man to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, according to reports.
