Man Douses Potential House Fire in Waltham

What was originally thought to be a working fire at an elderly housing facility, turned out to be a lot less.

What was originally reported as a working fire on Sunday, May 5, turned out to be a much smaller deal.

On Sunday, May 5, firefighters responded to the home at 125 Pine St. in Waltham and eventually discovered an ember from a fire pit had jumped onto the side of a house, according to Waltham Fire Lt. Scott Perry. Perry said the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection prohibits fire pits in densely populated areas such as Waltham.

The homeowner or tenant doused the ember but not before it melted a small portion of siding, Perry said.
