Judge Orders Blanca Contreras Held Without Bail

Contreras is accused of hitting and killing a Waltham man while driving last year.

Blanca Contreras, the woman accused in a hit-and-run accident that killed Waltham resident Scott Coxall in November, will not return to her native Gautemala after being ordered held without bail today in court, according to the Boston Herald.

A spokesperson for the District Attorney's office said last week that the DA planned to ask that Contreras be held without bail to prevent her from leaving the country.

In an email sent to Waltham Patch today, Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman Ross Feinstein said Contreras is in state custody.

"A judge revoked the previous bail that was set, and she will now be held in their custody on the pending criminal charges," Feinstein wrote. "ICE has re-lodged a detainer against her. After local charges are fully adjudicated, she will come back to ICE custody and be placed once again in removal proceedings."

Best news so far in this sordid illegal alien drama! The fact that she had the possibility of returning to her own country, without facing criminal charges in US courts is so mind blowing! WE truly are 'The Nanny' state!

It does not matter whether the person posses a drivers license or their legal status in this country it does not make them different from all the other there still going to be (accident) killers behind the wheel so think twice if u watch out for the Spanish guy while a white drunk driver hits you In the other side . Common sense people stop dreaming wake up to reality this is more serious than racial issue.

It does matter whether or not someone possesses a driver's license; possession of a license indicates they passed the driving test, have sufficient knowledge of the traffic rules and have been granted the revocable privilege of driving. Certainly people of all races make mistakes and the results are often tragic for both parties, but laws are in place for a reason and apply to all races equally. The driver's license requirement and traffic rules are exist at least partially to protect people, of all races and citizenships.
