Garbage Truck Fire Closes Major Waltham Road

Part of Lexington Street is closed as firefighters battle a garbage truck fire.

A garbage truck fire has shut down part of Lexington Street in the middle of the morning commute, according to Waltham Fire Dispatch center.

According to the dispatch center's Twitter feed, firefighters are battling a fire in a garbage truck at 680 Lexington St. Waltham Police have closed the road, but firefighters are trying to make part of it passable, according to dispatch.

The driver of the truck escaped unharmed according to the Waltham Fire Department's Twitter feed.
