Florida Prosecutor Will Investigate Death of Waltham Triple Murder Suspect

Ibragim Todashev was shot and killed during an interview with FBI and other law enforcement officials.

A prosecutor in Orlando, Fla., announced he will investigate the shooting death of one of the suspects in the Waltham triple murder, who also has ties to one of the Boston Marathon bombers.

State Attorney Jeff Ashton received the preliminary report from the FBI about the death of Ibragim Todashev, who was killed during an interview about the Waltham murders in May, according to an Associated Press story in the Boston Globe.

Original reports by the FBI said Todashev had lunged at an agent with a knife, but officials later said it is not clear what happened, according to the report.

Todashev was being questioned about the murders, in which Tamerlan Tsarnaev - the bombing suspects who was killed in the shootout in Watertown - is also a suspect.

An independent investigation into Todashev’s death has been requested by the ACLU and by Todashev’s father. Lawn enforcement officials in Florida and Massachusetts had declined to investigate the incident.
