Firefighters Battle Early Morning Blaze in Waltham

Nobody was injured in an early-morning kitchen fire at 47 Banks St., according to the Waltham Fire Department.

The incident began at around 2 a.m. when firefighters received a report of a fire at the 2.5 story woodframe home, according to Waltham Fire Lt. Scott Perry. When firefighters arrived, the found smoke coming from the rear left side of the home, Perry said. Police had already arrived on the scene and reported all of the home's occupants had escaped the home.

Inside the home, firefighters found fire in the kitchen, Perry said. Crews contained the blaze to the kitchen and eventually extinguished it, he said. Firefighters cleared the scene by 4 a.m. 

A cause of the fire has not yet been determined, Perry said.
