Driver Hits Two Newton Police Cars, Passenger Arrested In Waltham

The passenger was arrested on a warrant for trafficking cocaine, police said.

Police are looking for a driver in a white Chevy van who reportedly hit two Newton Police cruisers during a vehicle stop at the intersection of Crafts Street and North Street.

According to Newton Police Lt. Bruce Apotheker, members of the Newton Police Drug Unit stopped the vehicle on Crafts Street to execute a warrant for trafficking cocaine. 

During the stop, the passenger, who was wanted on the warrant, fled the scene on foot. The driver also fled the scene in the van, hitting an unmarked Newton Police car and a Newton Police cruiser in the process.

Newton Police apprehended the passenger in Waltham shortly after he fled the scene. Wilberto Nunoz, 34, of Lowell, was arrested on a warrant for trafficking cocaine, Apotheker said. 

Police have issued a BOLO (be on the look out) for the white Chevy van involved with the incident and hit-and-run. The vehicle has Massachusetts license plate N63663.

According to scanner reports from the Twitter feed of @matredsoxfan, police chased the vehicle down Cedar Street in Waltham before pulling it over in Newton.

Scanner reports indicated the vehicle was last seen on High Street in Waltham.
