Waltham and Belmont Animal Control officers have rescued a coyote near the town line, according to the Waltham Police Facebook page.
The coyote, who appeared mangy, has been taken to Tufts Wildlife Clinc in Grafton for evaluation and treatment, according to a July 24 post on the Waltham Police Department Facebook page.
The coyote was rescued near 84 Winter St. and is suffering from a severe skin infection.
"This is an example of what I believe to be causing all the coyote/fox sightings in the NW Waltham area. It is very debilitating to the animals, causing them to seek out easy sources of food in peoples yards, until eventually they get sick enough to be caught easily or they just wander off and die," reads a post on the Waltham Police Facebook page.
