Cause of Death Issued for Waltham Rollover Victim

Lisa A. LeBlanc died on March 24 in a rollover crash on Main Street.

The cause of death of a Waltham woman who died in a rollover crash in March has been ruled an accident, according to her death certificate.

Lisa A. LeBlanc, 41, of Waltham,

Her boyfriend, Bernardo Betancourt, who had been following her in another car, was arrested at the scene after the crash for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Police had been investigating Betancourt's possible involvement in LeBlanc's crash.

The death certificate indicates LeBlanc sustained blunt force injuries of the head and neck. Police previously said they believe LeBlanc was not wearing her seatbelt and that speed was a factor in the crash.

Cause of death is not an issue other than for court purpose. What we can learn from this sad tradegy is more important! R.I.P. Lisa!

I think I can lend some insight into this story. While to some, the cause of death may seem unimportant, it does matter in the context of possible charges against her boyfriend. Her boyfriend has not been charged in her death, but Lisa's cause of death is just one factor in the investigation that could lead to charges. In general, authorities have several choices to pick from on a death certificate, including homicide. However, in Lisa's cause, her COD was ruled an accident.

I never let anybody ride in my car without a seatbelt. If Lisa had been wearing hers, she might be alive today.
