Camuti Arraignment Date Set

The former Sudbury resident will be in Middlesex Superior Court in Woburn to face charges in the death of Steven Rakes.

An arraignment date has been set for a Sudbury man accused of murder against a witness in the James "Whitey" Bulger trial.

William Camuti, 69, will face an attempted murder charge, among others, on Oct. 16 in Middlesex Superior Court in Woburn.

Camuti was indicted on Oct. 3 by a Middlesex Grand Jury on charges of attempted murder, misleading police, and unlawful disposition of human remains in the death of Steven Rakes, a witness in the Whitey Bulger trial.

The body of Rakes, 59, was discovered at 1:30 p.m. on July 17 in a wooded area off Mill Street in Lincoln.

Prior to his arrest in the Rakes case, Camuti attempted suicide in his apartment and was taken to Bridgewater State Hospital.

Officials have said Camuti poisoned Rakes over a bad buisness deal.
