Attempted TV Theft At Waltham Costco

Two men attempted to take two TVs and a sound system, according to police.

Police are on the lookout for two men who attempted to steal electronic items from Costco on Saturday.

The two men entered Costco at around 1 p.m. on Saturday, picked up two flat-screen TVs and a sound system and approached the exit, without paying, according to Waltham Police Detective Sgt. Joseph Guigno. The pair presented the loss prevention worker with a fake receipt, according to Guigno. The loss prevention worker noticed the receipt was fake and the two suspects fled the store without the items, Guigno said.

The pair fled across Second Avenue toward the Mass General Hoispital building. State Police were responded to the area with K-9 units and a helicopter to locate the suspects, however the dog lost the scent near the MGH facility, Guigno said. Police believe the pair escaped onto the highway, Guigno said. Police later said is possible a getaway car helped the pair flee.

The suspects are described as black, one wore a grey sweatshirt, while the other wore a black sweatshirt and baseball hat, according to Guigno. Police belive the pair was involved in a similar incident in Dedham.
