A small trash barrel fire was doused at Waltham High School on Friday, the third in two months, according to Waltham Fire Lt. Scott Perry.

Firefighters received a call about the incident at 9:30 a.m. and quickly dispatched as if the building were actually ablaze, Peery said. By the time firefighters arrived, somebody had extinguished the flames in a bathroom near the auditorium, Perry said.

Perry said the incident was similar to two prior fires at the high school. Firefighters and police are investigating the incident.

It is sad to say, but honestly this has been a regular occurrence at WHS for at least a couple years. Being a graduate of last year myself I have experienced many fires there over the past few years, more so last year. It is just kids being childish and thinking they are cool and smoking in the bathrooms and throwing it in the trash, and then of course the purposeful trash fires as well. They need a lesson in maturity.

Silly question, but are there not cops assigned to the high school? I would like to think that they have a plan to catch and prosecute whomever does this; or is it not that important until someone is hurt?

@Bill L Yes, there is at least one School Resource Officer assigned to the HS. They are investigating.

All I can say is what are they waiting for?? The school to burn down? You need to catch whomever is doing this and have it stopped. I would hate to read that the school burns down with many inside..YOU NEED TO PUT A STOP TO IT.....
