Alleged Sheriff Shooter Still in Hospital

Raymond Wallace allegedly shot a Middlesex County Deputy Sheriff on Wednesday.

The man who allegedly shot a Middlesex County Deputy Sheriff in Boston on Wednesday is not healthy enough to be arraigned, according to authorities.

Raymond Wallace, 36, who served a prison term for robbing a store in Waltham in 2001, remains at Massachusetts General Hospital today after sustaining a gunshot wound at Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary in Boston on Wednesday, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.

Wallace had been in the custody of Middlesex County Sheriff’s awaiting charges out of Essex County. The shooting remains under investigation.

Wallace was released on parole in 2009 after serving several years in prison for the Waltham incident despite documents indicating he was not ready to be released and was dangerous, according to a 2011 WBZ-TV report.
