After Fatal Shooting, Meeting Set to Discuss Issues at Gardencrest Apartments

In the aftermath of Thursday’s fatal shooting, a meeting has been scheduled to discuss various neighborhood issues, including those in the Gardencrest and Ellison Park neighborhoods.

Waltham Mayor Jeannette McCarthy and Ward 6 City Councillor Robert Waddick will lead the meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, at Government Center, 119 School St., according to McCarthy.

McCarthy said she has contacted Gardencrest’s management to see if they are willing to send a representative to the meeting. McCarthy has also attempted to set up a separate meeting with Gardencrest’s management and Waltham’s chief of police to over security at the complex.

Tyler Zanco, a 17-year-old Waltham High senior, was shot to death in the apartment complex’ parking lot Thursday night. No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
