Yesterday, the One Million Pibble (pit bull) March took place in Washington, DC. You can read about it here, http://www.king5.com/news/slideshows/Pibble-pit-bull-march-washington-257810581.html. Note that this article states, "President Obama has even come out about the ineffectiveness of the breed specific legislation (BSL) laws and ways to see it abolished." If you click through that article to the next article, you'll read, "the White House said research shows bans on certain types of dogs are largely ineffective and often a waste of public resources," and "The White House supports CDC recommendations for a community-based approach to prevent dog bites."
While the anti-pit bull blog on this Patch site may not focus on BSL, it IS focused on breed bias, negativity and fear, and offers no helpful solution toward safer coexistence with our animal friends. If you feel this sort of bias should end on Patch, I urge you to contact your Patch editor and voice your opinion. Thank you.
