Obituary: Robert Hines, Lifelong Waltham Resident

Hines died Saturday, April 26. He was 73.

Robert C. Hines, of Waltham, died Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 73.

Bob was born in Waltham on July 9, 1940, a son of the late Edward J. and Mary E. (McAleer) Hines and had been a lifelong resident. After graduating from Saint Charles Borromeo High School in Waltham, he served with the U.S. Navy.

Until his retirement, he worked as a foreman at Unitrode in Watertown. Bob had been a member of the Joseph F. Hill American Legion Post No. 156 in Waltham and the AMVETS Post No. 79 in Natick.

The husband of the late Diane M. (Doucette) Hines, he leave his children, Karen E. Dean and her husband Daniel of Acton, Linda D. Hines, Glen M. Hines and his wife Lisa, all of Waltham, and Robert E. Hines of Townsend; his grandchildren, Jessica and Steven Hines and Parker and Sara Dean and many nieces and nephews.

He was also a brother of the late Edward and Paul Hines.

Family and friends will honor and remember Robert's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main St. (Route 20), Waltham, on Thursday, May 1, from 4-8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School St., Waltham, where his funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Waltham.
