Obituary: Richard 'Dick' Hoxie

Hoxie, of Waltham, was a retired Cambridge Police Department sergeant.

Mr. Richard J. "Dick" Hoxie, of Waltham, died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014 at his home. He was 79.

Dick was born in Quincy on March 4, 1934, a son of the late Everett and Alice (Malone) Hoxie, and was a graduate of Quincy High School. During the Korean War, he served with the U.S. Army.

A Waltham resident of the past 35 years, he was a sergeant on the Cambridge Police Department until his retirement.

He leaves his wife, Judith A. LeCount of Waltham; his children, Teresa Copson of Malden, Tracey Hoxie-McHugh of Belmont, Dory LeCount of Waltham and Richard Hoxie Jr.; his brother and sister, William Hoxie of Sandwich and Alyse Morrissey of Belmont. Dick is also survived by Janice T. Hoxie of Medford, the mother of Teresa and Tracey, and his everpresent companion, his dog, Cody.

Funeral services are private.
