Obituary: Muriel MacNeil, Lived in Waltham for Nearly 50 Years

MacNeil died Monday, Feb. 10. She was 87.

The following is from Brasco & Sons Memorial Chapel.

Muriel MacNeil, of Waltham, passed away Monday, Feb. 10, 2014 at the Meadowgreen Nursing Home in Waltham, surrounded by her family; she was 87.

Born in Alder Point, Nova Scotia, on Sept. 20, 1926 to the late Henry and Henrietta (LeBlanc) O'Toole. She moved to Waltham in 1966 where she has been a resident ever since.

In her spare time, Muriel enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, playing Keno, Cribbage and scratch tickets. She loved spending time with her family, visiting her sister in Ontario and most of all her weekly lunches at the Chateau to play KENO, with her cherished granddaughter Kelly.

She was the beloved wife of the late Adrian MacNeil and grandmother of the late Steven MacNeil.

She is survived by her loving children Robert MacNeil and his wife Linda (Ordway) of Littleton, N.H., Doug MacNeil and his wife Gloria Petrie of Waltham, Jerry MacNeil and his wife Julie (Black) of Spencer, Iowa, Ken MacNeil and his wife Deborah (Cedarlund) of Holliston, Judy Lamb and her husband Fred of Townsend and Jan Wells and her husband Russ of Longmeadow, her sister Margie Dawe of Ontario, her devoted grandchildren Rob MacNeil of Framingham, Kelly MacNeil of Swampscott, Allison MacNeil of Pelham, N.H., Nicholas MacNeil of Foxborough, Holly Kania of Pennsylvania, Kevin MacNeil of Waltham, Dennis Wells of Longmeadow, Marina MacNeil of Iowa and Eric Wells of Longmeadow, and her cherished great-grandchildren Joshua and Aiden. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral service in celebration of Muriel's life at the Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody St., WALTHAM, Thursday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 9-11 a.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in Muriel's memory to Stroke Research at Mass General Hospital, check payable to MGH, mailed to Stroke Research in memory of Muriel MacNeil, MGH Development Center, 100 Cambridge St., Suite 1310, Boston, MA 02114.
