Obituary: Maria Corretta

Corretta lived in Waltham since 1952.

Maria Corretta, of Waltham, passed away Sunday morning, March 23, 2014 at her home. She was 96.

Born May 8, 1917 in Celenza Valfortore, Foggia, Italy, to the late Pasquale and Adolarata (Santoro) Iacaruso, she was raised in Italy and moved to Waltham in 1952 where she has been a resident ever since.

Maria worked as a seamstress at Moody St. Dress Company or many years and also worked at Unitrode for some time.

Maria will be remembered as kind and loving woman who never had a bad word to say about anyone and was always willing to give a helping hand.

In her spare time, Mrs. Carretta enjoyed crocheting and gave afghans to all of her friends and family members. She was also a very good cook and liked making large meals for all of her family gatherings.

She was the beloved wife of the late Francesco "Frank" Carretta. Maria is survived by her loving children Natalina Monaco and her husband Vincenzo of Waltham, Aldo Carretta and his fiancé Elizabeth Melanson of Bolton and Enio Carretta of Lexington, and her devoted grandchildren Nicky Monaco of New Hampshire, Anthony Monaco of Waltham, Mary Sylvanowicz of Waltham, Christina Monaco of Waltham, Michael Carretta of Medway, Andrew Carretta of Woburn, Jill Carretta of Brighton and Tyler Carretta of Waltham. She is also survived by her cherished great grandchildren Evan, Alyssa and Aryana.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend funeral services from the Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody St., WALTHAM, Saturday at 9 a.m. with a mass of Christian burial in celebration of Maria's life at Sacred Heart Church, 311 River St., Waltham, at 10 a.m..
