Obituary: James Hutchings Sr., of Waltham

Hutchings died July 9.

The following is from Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home.

James E. Hutchings Sr., of Waltham, passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, July 9, 2014 at the EPOCH Senior Healthcare of Weston at the age of 75.

Born on Dec. 6, 1938 in Framingham, son of the late Edwin and Lucy (Littlefield) Hutchings, Jim lived most of his life in Waltham and spent several years in Florida and North Carolina.

Jim was employed as a Truck Driver for Nonantum Lumber for 32 years and a member of the Teamsters Local #25. Until his retirement, Jim worked for Veterans Taxi for many years.

In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, puzzles, making wood airplanes and listening to country music.

He is survived by his children James E. Hutchings Jr. of Waltham, Deborah Sherman of Waltham, Stephen C. Brooks of Ohio, Cheri Price of North Carolina, Phyllis McLean of Canada and Rosie Schiffdecker of North Carolina and his siblings George Hutchings of Minnesota, Pauline Hutchings of Watertown and Louise Post of Florida. In addition, he is survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and close friends.

He is predeceased by his beloved wife Barbara (Malloch) Hutchings, his daughter Donna Marie Kennedy and brothers Edward and Charles Hutchings.  

A PRIVATE graveside funeral service in celebration of Jim’s Life was held in Lincoln Cemetery.

The Brasco & Sons Memorial Chapels in WALTHAM assisted the family with arrangements.
