The following is from Joyce Funeral Home.
Duncan MacDougall, of Waltham, died on Friday, Jan. 31, 2014 at home. He was 66.
Duncan was born on Sept. 15, 1947 in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada, one of 12 children to the late John and Anastasia (Wall) MacDougall. He graduated from Sydney Academy in his native Canada and immigrated to the United States in 1970. On Sept. 19, 1970 in the former St. Jean's Church in Newton he married Nina G. MacNevin, and they have lived in Waltham since marriage.
Duncan worked for over 35 years at Millipore Corporation in Bedford, retiring in 2006.
Duncan was proud of many things in his life: his Scottish heritage, his family name and the MacDougall clan, his native Canada, his home and most especially his boys, Brian and Daniel. He was active in the Waltham Little League and the Youth Hockey Association while his boys were growing up. He loved to fish and take weekend trips with his family to their cottage in Alton Bay, N.H., and annual trips home to Sydney. He was a real down to earth and genuine guy who had a knack for remembering everyone's names. He had a terrific sense of humor and was known to many as "Hunky Dunky" or "Mr. Mac."
In death Duncan joins his parents; his siblings, Sally Prosser, Mary McGarry, John MacDougall and Kate MacNeil.
He leaves his wife of 44 years, Nina; their sons, Brian P. and Daniel R. MacDougall, of Waltham; his siblings, Betty Anne Rolf of Alberta, Canada, Charles MacDougall of Kenfeld, N.S., Canada, Marilyn Redshaw, Patsy Field and Donna Martell, all of Sydney, N.S., Canada, Peter MacDougall of New Brunswick, and Bonnie MacDougallof Alberta, Canada; many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Duncan's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main St. (Route 20), Waltham, on Tuesday, Feb. 4, from 4-8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall St., where his funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be private.
Memorial donations may be made to Waltham Youth Hockey Association, P.O. Box 540654, Waltham, MA 02454.
