Obituary: Alfred 'Al' Kokidko

Kokidko died Friday, March 7.

The following is from Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home.

Alfred John "Al" Kokidko, of Waltham, passed away peacefully Friday evening, March 7, 2014 at the Lexington Healthcare Center; he was 86.

Born and raised in Waltham to the late Fred and Margaret (Scuik) Kokidko, Al was a lifelong resident of Waltham and a graduate of Waltham High School.

A U.S. Navy veteran, Mr. Kokidko served his country honorably during World War II. Al worked in the receiving department for Standard Thompson for over 30 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed following sports, whether it was the local professional teams or the Waltham High School teams. He also liked spending time at the race track and going for walks.

He is survived by his loving sisters and brother Stella Kokidko of Waltham, Leo Kokidko of Waltham, Olga Kokidko of Waltham, Margaret Sundin of Virginia and Anne Doucette of Waltham. He is also survived by his adopted family Debbie and Danny Beaumont, both of Waltham, and many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late John, Walter "Budjo" and Fred George Kokidko, and brother-in-law of the late Ann Kokidko, Charles Sundin, Bernard Doucette and Clair Kokidko.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend funeral services from the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home, 773 Moody St., WALTHAM, Saturday at 9 a.m. with a mass of Christian burial in celebration of Al's life at Sacred Heart Church, 311 River St. Interment will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Friday from 4-7 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
