Obituary: Alderice Melanson, Longtime Waltham Resident

Melanson died Saturday, May 31.

Alderice J. Melanson, of Waltham, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, May 31, 2014 at the Maristhill Nursing Home in Waltham. He was 81.

Born in Canada to the late Edmond and Dianna (LeBlanc) Melanson, he resided in Waltham for the past 50 years.

Mr. Melanson worked for West End Chevy in Waltham for 30 years as a mechanic and at Raytheon in Waltham for 15 years as a machinist.

Mr. Melanson enjoyed using the HAM radio and was a member of the Amateur Radio Club and the Waltham Repeater Club. He also enjoyed flying radio control airplanes and was an active member of the Burlington R.C. Flyers Club, where he served as both the secretary and groundskeeper. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle. In his spare time, Alderice would help his friends and family fix anything for a car to a computer.

He was the beloved husband of the late Rita (Greene) Melanson, and brother of the late Lionel Melanson. He is survived by his loving daughter Diane Hart and her husband Bill of Pepperell, cherished grandfather of Amanda Hart of Florida and Katrina Hart of Pepperell, and brother of Stella LeDuc and Geneva Collette, both of Canada. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend funeral services from the Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody St., WALTHAM, Wednesday at 9 a.m. with a mass of Christian burial in celebration of Alderice's life at Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
