John Maynard, 77, Waltham Resident, DPW Foreman

John Maynard of Waltham died on July 15 at the age of 77.

He was husband of the late Yvonne L. (Geoffrion) Maynard and brother of the late William Maynard. He is survived by his children Christine Maynard, John Maynard, and Jacqueline Dowcett all of Waltham, Joan Place and her husband Ernest of Marlborough, Thomas Dowcett of Brockton, Kathleen Greene and her husband George of Dexter, Maine, Deborah Dowcett of Bourne and Barbara Thibodeau and her husband John of Sagamore Beach. In addition he is survived by 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins, according to an obituary on the Brasco & Sons Memorial Chapels website.

Maynard attended Waltham High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. After his service, he worked with his father as a painter for several years before working for the Waltham Department of Public Works as a forman/painter for over 30 years.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Brasco & Sons Memorial Chapels, 773 Moody St. in Waltham on Monday, July 22 at 8:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Mary’s Church, 145 School St. in Waltham at 10:30 a.m.
