Jean Saulnier, 88, of Waltham, Worked at the Fernald School

Jean T. Saulnier of Waltham died on Aug. 8 at the age of 88.

Born in Nova Scotia, he served in the Canadian Army during World War II. He moved the United States and worked for the Waltham Grinding Wheel Co. where he was foreman for 38 years. He worked as a fireman in the power plant at the Fernald School until he retired, according to an obituary on the Joyce Funeral Home website.

He was a member of the French-American Victory Club and the Waltham Elks.

He is survived by his wife Patricia (Nagle); his children Thomas Saulnier of Waltham, Annette Segien of Acton, Theodore Saulnier of Falmouth and John Saulnier of Billerica; his grandchildren, Christopher Segien, Kaitlyn Saulnier, Holly Umina, Heather Smith, Aidan Lynn; his great-grandchild, Landon Little and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Rose Doucette, Catherine Saulnier, Madeline d'Entremont, Dennis Saulnier, Henry Saulnier, Josephine Weaver and Alphonse Saulnier.

Calling hours will be in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main St. in Waltham on Sunday, Aug. 11, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 12 before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road in Waltham, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at the Newton Cemetery.
