PETER KOUTOUJIAN HOLDS “COFFEE AND CONVERSATION” WITH WALTHAM SENIOR CITIZENS, PLEDGES TO PROTECT SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE

Koutoujian Visits With Residents of Francis Cabot Lowell Mill to Discuss Plans to Safeguard And Strengthen Social Security and Medicare

WALTHAM – Peter Koutoujian visited the Francis Cabot Lowell Mill today, discussing with residents the importance of safeguarding and strengthening Social Security and Medicare in the face of Republican opposition.

“Social Security and Medicare are part of our country’s contract with the middle class,” said Koutoujian.  “We can’t afford to let Republicans renege on that deal.  We can’t afford to balance tax breaks for Big Oil on the backs of our senior citizens.  When we do that we make retired Americans and their families bear too much of the burden.  As a Congressman I’ll stand up for Social Security and Medicare.  I’ll stand strong for the middle class.”

Koutoujian was introduced at the senior center by longtime supporter and friend Fred Faugno of Waltham.  “Who stood up for us when the river flooded and emergency vehicles couldn’t access the Mills?” Faugno asked the audience.  “Peter.  Who stands up for us when snow plows don’t clear our streets and sidewalks?  Peter.  Who’s going to stand up for us when Republicans in Congress attack Social Security and Medicare?  Peter.  We count on these programs to provide for ourselves, and we can count on Peter to protect them.”
