My name is Dennis Carrafiello and I am running for Councilor for Ward 9, please consider voting for me on November 5.

IT’S TIME FOR A CHANGE!!!

The current Ward 9 councilor is trying to take credit for allowing Bakeries and Delicatessens on Moody Street. I am quite surprised by this. The original restrictions put in place over a decade ago were initiated and supported by the current councilor. In my opinion this is what strangled Moody Street in the first place which opened the door to its current state.

Have you noticed the vacant stores across from Margarita’s (210 Moody St., on the river)?  Why did it take three years to get approval from our city?  This project is a huge enhancement to the Moody St area. It had no opposition and the final plan was very close to the original proposal. (Why three years?) Where was the help and support? We should be trying to encourage and attract quality businesses instead of chasing them away.

Parking is an issue. There was a long term parking plan to relieve the parking issues on Moody Street and Ward 9 which received no support from the current councilor.

Did you know that the incumbent ward councilor is taking full time benefits from the city for his part time job as councilor, even though his full time job with the state offers benefits?

I will work with the Downtown Waltham Partnership to seek ways to improve the downtown experience. IT’S TIME FOR A CHANGE.  The only way to go from here is up!

My vision as a ward councilor is to be assessable to my constituents as well as work with the other councilors instead of opposing them which just drags everything to a halt.

The city council gets paid year round 12 months a year. There was a vote to hold council meetings all year round to clear out some of the back log of proposals that they just don’t get to before the Summer break. The current Ward 9 councilor voted against it.

One of my visions as it relates to being a city councilor is that when a project gets before the Council, said project would have been already reviewed at the applicable city departments (Building, Fire Engineering, Traffic, etc.) so by the time it gets to the city council most of the questions have been answered and the councils function is to approve/disapprove.
