Changes in Ward 9: Dennis Carrafiello

·  I will work to improve communication between residents and the city council with a city wide calendar of events. Residents need to learn about meetings before they happen not afterwards. 

·  I will work to re-write zoning regulations to be more business friendly and to attract different types of businesses to the downtown. 

·  I will work to encourage development of a Master Plan that is proactive with a "big picture” approach to city planning rather than merely reacting to projects as they come. The city needs to work with professionals to develop a 10-year plan for how we want the city to look in 2025. 

·  I will work with the Tourism Council, Chamber of Commerce, and Downtown Waltham Partnership to increase tourism and attractions to people visiting Waltham. For example, a city map should be developed to highlight our unique offerings as a city.

·  I will work with city leaders and the public works department to evaluate the major problem with the sidewalks in Ward 9, which have tree roots growing through them creating a safety hazard.  Especially, near our senior housing.

·  I will support the acquisition of the Fernald School allowing the city to utilize the property for the benefit of its citizens.
