Waltham Kids Graduate Public Safety Academy

Forty-seven children from Waltham recently completed the Middlesex County Sheriff Office's Youth Public Safety Academy.

Middlesex County Sheriff Peter Koutoujian, a Waltham resident, honored some Waltham children last week as they graduated from the office's Youth Public Safety Academy in Billerica.

Forty-seven kids, ages, 9-11 from Waltham graduated, along with others from Newton, Watertown and Cambridge during a Friday, Aug. 24 graduation ceremony, according to the sheriff's office. 

The academy taught the kids basic skills such as first aid, fire safety and team-building exercises. They also toured their local police and fire departments.
