Waltham High Sophomore Completes Moody Street 5K on Crutches

The sophomore runner plays lacrosse at the high school.

Waltham High sophomore Alexia Baugniet didn’t just finish Waltham’s Moody Street 5K on Sunday – she did so despite being on crutches the whole way.

A reader tipped us off to the 16-year-old sophomore’s perseverant feat. Baugniet plays lacrosse at the high school, the reader said. She finished the race in 50:10.

The Moody Street 5K attracted more than 1,000 runners.

Waltham’s Michael Kelleher, 21, was the top male in 16:41. Jill Wilder, 34, of Waltham, was the top female in 19:23.
